Responsibility:

Implementation of all electronic security solutions including IP networks. The successful candidate will implement, supervise and plan security system installations, assist with system configurations and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and general upkeep. The scope of work includes networking, IP CCTV, access control, barriers and turnstiles, perimeter intrusion detection systems (CCTV and beam alarms), electric fence, I/O automation and logic systems, and other electronic security systems. Plan and execute various security system installations and post-installation activity including:

• IP network cabling, termination and configuration.

• Network switches and routers.

• IP CCTV cameras, servers and NVRs.

• Access control, door logic controllers, controlled door locks.

• Microsoft server and workstation deployment.

• SAN RAID implementation.

• Program and configure relevant electronic systems.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose CCTV, access control, network, data storage, logic systems for boom gates, turnstiles, grippers.

• Conduct system performance checks.

• Conduct repairs after diagnoses.

• Respond to customer calls relating to system performance and faults.

• Fault finding and problem solving across all systems.

Management and communication:

• Post-installation site management with other junior technicians.

• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

• Liaise and communicate with management and colleagues.

• Manage staff safety on site.

• Monitor and manage standards set out by the organisation.

• Manage and update the status of faults with clients and the company.

• Site installation/maintenance planning.

• Compile and update site documentation on an ongoing basis.

Candidate:

• No criminal record.

• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence with more than 2 years’ driving experience.

• Minimum national senior certificate (Grade 12).

• National higher diploma or equivalent in electronics and/or IT.

• Competence in low-voltage electronics and logic systems.

• PSIRA certified (minimum Grade D).

• Basic project management qualifications.

• Certification programmes with system OEMs or certified trainers/institutes for CCTV, access control and networking.

• Preferred knowledge on FLIR, Bosch, Provision and Impro (other brand knowledge will be considered).

• Firm knowledge of networking and equipment fundamentals.

• Microsoft server and workstation knowledge.

• Capable in Visio, Projects, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in the relevant technologies and sound knowledge of the various IT and security technologies.
